Even a decade and a half after peace accords were signed, ending a 36 year armed conflict, Guatemala is still very much a country in crisis. Chronic malnutrition, limited access to health care, widespread poverty, racism and structural violence against the indigenous Mayan population all present significant challenges to our educational project, which aims to do nothing less than transform the tremendously deficient Guatemalan educational system.
