Our students face challenges large and small every day, ranging from poverty and food insecurity to inadequate health care and domestic abuse. We are one of few positive forces in a world full of challenges.

We do not deny students an education based on ability to pay. In Guatemala, any child we turned away would have few other places to turn. Most private schools are run like businesses, and public schools fail to prepare students for success. Corruption is endemic in both the private and public sectors of Guatemalan society, which poses an ongoing challenge to the Asturias Academy and its commitment to ethical operations and serving the public good.
